Benjamin Woo is Associate Professor of Communication & Media Studies at Carleton University and the RoCCET Lab’s founding director. His research examines “geek media cultures” at the intersection of comics studies, fan studies, and media industries studies. He teaches and supervises in the areas of comic books and graphic novels, cultural studies, audience and reception, children’s media, and race and communication.

He is the author of Getting a Life: The Social Worlds of Geek Culture, co-author of The Greatest Comic Book of All Time: Symbolic Capital and the Field of American Comic Books, and the co-editor of Scene Thinking: Cultural Studies from the Scenes Perspective and The Comics World: Comic Books, Graphic Novels, and Their Publics.
