Jake Festeryga is an MA student in Communication and Media Studies at Carleton University. His research examines the current state of “geek” masculinities and their greater societal implications. He is also interested in how players interact with game mechanics and processes in ways that may perpetuate hegemonic ideals and what it means when we interact with these mechanics and processes uncritically.
